“Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.” 1 Samuel 15:23 (NLT)
“There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead…” Deuteronomy 18:10-11 (ESV)
“But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21:8 (NLT)
“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:18-23 (ESV)
The Bible has a lot to say about witchcraft and its associated practices. Sorcery, divination, enchantments, charms, amulets, and the like are all activities which God forbids.
The real question is not what does the Bible say about witchcraft because that’s obvious. No. In the end, what it comes down to is whether we accept the authority of scripture (God’s revealed word) in our lives or not.
Many people are looking to witchcraft and other forms of mysticism to fulfill a need in their lives for spiritual connection. The problem is not everything which seems (or presents itself) as good is from God. And when we choose to participate or pursue those things which God clearly warns against in scripture, we flout the authority which rightfully belongs to Him, rejecting God’s mercy and grace.
There are many more verses which deal with occult practices within the Bible. Once we are aware of the truth, the responsibility falls upon us to act upon the information.
“Many who became believers confessed their sinful practices. A number of them who had been practicing sorcery brought their incantation books and burned them at a public bonfire. The value of the books was several million dollars. So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect.” Acts 19:18-20 (NLT)
