DVD Review: Power PraiseMoves

For a number of years, particularly when I was involved with witchcraft and the occult, I was very much into Eastern meditation and yoga. Honestly, it's all part and parcel of the ideology. You use the meditation to open your mind and grow psychically.
Yoga was simply a natural progression from there. Widely accepted by doctors as a form of exercise and relaxation you can find yoga classes…in a variety of forms…pretty much in any city or town in the United States.
There is nothing wrong with that, but I do believe it's important to note that yoga has deep roots in Hinduism. Not to mention there is a lot of New Age teaching that is connected to it as well. What many people do not realize is that the many postures, use of breath, etc.,in yoga is all designed to "yoke" oneself to the various gods in Hinduism. I don't have time here to go into the history of yoga but you can read an interesting article by Laurette Willis on her site PraiseMoves.
So what exactly is PraiseMoves? A Christian Alternative to Yoga.
Laurette Willis had been basically raised doing yoga and through it was introduced to the New Age. She eventually became a yogi and teacher of the practice for many years until she became a Christian.
Laurette came to realize that Christians didn't understand the religious roots of yoga and eventually was inspired to create PraiseMoves, a Christian Alternative to Yoga. What makes it different is that each move is rooted in scripture, which you meditate on as you go through the workout.
I recently bought a copy of PraiseMoves because I've been looking for an alternative to yoga. I have done some reading and explored what is being called Christian, "Yahweh" or "Holy" yoga…but honestly I didn't see much difference between that and the real thing. I didn't notice a difference in my spirit either.
What I love most about Power PraiseMoves is that not only is it an excellent workout for the body (you go through each move individually and then as a sequence) it is also up-lifting to the spirit. Going through each move, listening to and meditating on the scripture it represents was exactly what I was looking for all this time. There are also various options for different kinds of workouts…warm up, abs, 25 minutes, etc.
Many moves in Power PraiseMoves are similar or the same as yoga moves…there is only so much one can do with the body after all…however they have been "redeemed" from their original meaning. Instead of a prayer posture to a foreign god, through PraiseMoves I can now worship the true and living God of the Bible with my body as I learn scripture.
I highly recommend Power PraiseMoves to any Christian who would like the benefit of a healthy exercise and as a means of meditating on the word of God. Give it a try…you'll be glad you did.

My favorite way to exercise is working in my many gardens (veggie & flower) for a few hours most days as weather permits….I even do some work in them throughout the winter, as I LOVE being outdoors! I also enjoy getting my exercise by walking a few miles around town and by hiking in our state parks. With the current ice and snow out there, I may have to resort to a bit more indoor exercise for a while though!
I have to say I love being outdoors as well. Picking berries in the Summer, walking, great forms of exercise. What I love about PraiseMoves is the amount of scripture I'm learning as I strengthen my body. Good stuff.
My favorite way to exercise lately has been to hike up to the Citadella, the fort that overlooks the city – it's gorgeous and it never gets old. In fact, since there is snow today, I'll be doing that later! I can't wait!
Sounds lovely!
Hi there… my favorite way to exercise is to dance; even when I'm working with my elder-care clients… I keep moving (dancing) to get them moving, well try to get them moving. I also like to take walks around the neighborhood. I love that your offering the opportunity to win Power Praise Moves… something I've always wanted to try out; but never could bring myself to purchase.
I love to dance as well
And it’s my pleasure to offer this excellent DVD as a giveaway! Good Luck!
