A few weeks ago I was considering what should be the next book for the Kristine ReMixed Book Giveaway. The answer came from my contact at Zondervan Publishing, who suggested I read Margaret Feinberg's book Scouting the Divine. Having never heard of this particular author, I thought her suggestion sounded like a good idea and agreed to read the book.
As soon as I received my copy in the mail and read the back cover I knew I was going to like this book. Scouting the Divine is a journey into understanding the deeper meaning of four particular metaphors used within scripture …and what they mean for us today as Followers of Christ.
One of the first things I noticed while reading Margaret Feinberg's writing is how easy it is to join her on this journey. More than a casual observer to her process of discovery, through her words we become an intimate partner on the excursion. Digging deep into the hidden nuances of familiar teachings and applying them to our modern sensibilities with fresh understanding.
This is why I'm very happy to again partner with Zondervan Publishing in offering you, faithful reader, the opportunity to be one of three lucky people to win a copy of Scouting the Divine by Margaret Feinberg.
To Be Eligible:
Post a comment on this page answering the following question:
"What do you know about sheep and as a Christian how do you feel about being compared to one?
Three winners will be chosen by random drawing on November 20th.

You know, that's a very interesting question. One I've never thought through until now. From an outsider's view, as is the way of a non-believer looking in on Christians, sheep can look stupid. After all, they follow each other… even to slaughter. They don't seem to have much independence. But when you look at their purpose in doing so, it makes sense. They stick together for protection from outside attacks. They work together to ward off threats. Somewhat in the same way the body of Christ does. A triple braided cord is stronger… and all that.
I also am proud to be a sheep when you get down to who our shepherd is… I'm glad to be in a flock, because I know the flock is being lead to avoid slaughter.
It's definitely a question that requires much deeper thought.
I know that sheep have always been known for their stupidity and tend to just follow where everyone else is going… being compared to one is hard at times, but at the same time, we as people (compared to God) are really stupid. We also tend to follow others instead of realizing our own paths.
PS – thanks for the last book – I quickly run out of English reading material over here, so it is great to have a new, refreshing book to dive into after a long day of translating EVERYTHING.
Thrilled you enjoyed the book!
Hi Margaret! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog
I truly did enjoy Scouting the Divine and cannot wait to share it!
What a good question! I heard a very interesting story about the shepard and his sheep. If there is a lamb that is always getting lost or getting in harms way, a shepard will break the sheeps leg for it's own good. Then the shepard will lovingly set the lambs leg and will carry the sheep at all times. The lamb gets used to being near the shepard and will not wander away. He is the lamb that stays by the shepard.
