When Good Stuff Gets Lost

I hate computers.

No…truly, I do.  They can be a wonderful asset.  Helpful even. They can also be utterly frustrating.  Instruments of mental torture.  A tool of the enemy!   Especially when I’ve been working on something which in my mind is really great.  I’m experiencing an outburst of personal creativity.  I’m working diligently and with purpose.

Oh yes.  It is indeed in these moments when the unthinkable always happens.

The computer freezes.

Everything I’ve been working on is suddenly gone. Poof. Vanished.  Winked out as if it never existed.

This is what’s happened to me this morning.  I was working on what I believed to be a great post about prayer.  24-7 Prayer to be specific.  A movement birthed a number of years ago in the U.K, and spread across the world.  Prayer that never ends.

Imagine it.  People young and old dedicated to prayer.  In a place where prayer doesn’t always have to be traditional but can reflect the person doing the praying.  I’ve been involved in several 24-7 Prayer rooms and the experience has always drawn me into deeper relationship with God.  I wrote how continual prayer helped save my marriage. How the prayer of others helped deliver me from deception and the occult.  I reminded that as Christians we are called to pray without ceasing as a part of our lives.  (1 Thess. 5:12-28)

I was poetic!  Inspired!  Nearly finished!

All I wanted to do was add a link to the scripture.  Make it easy for you, the reader,  to click on biblegateway.com and read the verses for yourself.  Not a huge request.  BUT NO! There was an error!  In the language of my daughter’s X-Box 360…I got the red ring of death!  My post was gone and there was no retrieving it.

Sadly, some times good stuff gets lost.  A computer freezes and words get sucked into a black hole…or wherever lost files go….never to be seen or read again.  Oh sure, I could try to recreate the original post but it wouldn’t be the same.  I’d be trying to recreate a moment which has passed.

So it is time to move on.  Acknowledge my plans and schemes don’t always work out whether it be in life or in a blog.  You’ll have to figure out that prayer is important to our daily lives without my gentle reminder.  My job is to let go of the past…and pray for a better blog tomorrow.

The same thing happens to me in a different way. I plan to spend time with God in prayer and studying His Word-not just in the car or going to Walmart! and life gets in the way, and the day is "wiped out" before I can turn arould good. Thanks for this little note you did post. It's a reminder to make the time..It won't just happen on it's on.He more than deserves it.
