Book Review ~ A Million Miles in a Thousand Years

Every life is a story driven by its characters.  This is the concept Donald Miller details for us in his new book,  A Million Miles in a Thousand Years.

Like many people, I was first introduced to the musings of Donald Miller through his best selling book, Blue Like Jazz.   What I like about Donald's writing is the honest way he shares his thoughts.  When he has questions, he asks them.  Admitting when he doesn't necessarily  have the answers.

The interesting thing about A Million Miles in a Thousand Years is how it was birthed. While editing his own life for a movie based on Blue Like Jazz.  He discovered the elements of good story writing as he worked on the film.  In A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, Donald shares what he's learned about story, and how it applies to life.

I found A Million Miles in a Thousand Years to be thoughtful and thought provoking. Readers, as they walk through the concepts of "story" with Donald, will take away a nugget of truth about their own story.

  1. This is the first Donald Miller book I've read, and it was fascinating. As I write my first novel I was compelled by what Miller had to say about "story" and it's application to our real lives. I don't think I will go back and read his earlier works — I like this Donald Miller too much. He faces so much and embraces so much in his desire to "live a better story" with his own life that I am eager to see the next "chapter" in his story.
