When one person is faithful to God's leading. the world can be changed. This is the lesson learned in this new book by Ron Hall, Denver Moore, and Lynn Vincent. A follow up to Same Kind of Different As Me, their collaborative inspirational memoir; What Difference Do It Make ? continues the story of Ron and Denver's unique friendship and offers details of their mission. Putting a human face on the issue of homelessness and what the we are supposed to do about it.
Ron Hall was a successful art dealer. Denver Moore, an ex-con, was living on the streets of Fort Worth, Texas. Two very different men, brought together through the faithfulness of Ron's wife, Deborah. A woman with a vision to serve God by helping people who were homeless. After her untimely death in 2000, these two men continued her call to love God and love people by telling their story.
What Difference Do It Make? is sweet, poignant, and direct. Allowing the reader to view people, who for whatever reason find themselves on the street, with new eyes. Additionally, the reader is allowed to see the impact Ron, Denver, and Deborah's story has had on people. How their lives and gritty honesty have inspired others to action. Changed their perspective on people they may have been passing every day, but not truly seeing.
I found this book to be engaging from the first page to the last. Truthfully, I'd not read the original book and knew nothing of their story. However, What Difference Do It Make? is written in such a way as to inform the reader of the past story even as it updates the on the present. An easy read, I enjoyed this book in one afternoon because I simply could not put it down. I laughed, cried, and was challenged by every word.
Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of What Difference Do It Make? and acquaint yourselves with this remarkable story of faith and friendship. God will challenge you to get out and do something and that's okay….it's what we are meant, as Christians, to do.
